The Manual Transmission Speed Sensor calculates the actual gear ratio of the manual transmission during operation of the vehice. The ECU relies on this information for various vehicle safety systems such as maximum vehicle speed and stability control. Reasons to replace could include no or erratic speedometer performance, inoperable cruise control or check engine light illumination. Usually located on the manual transmission.
